It has no doubt become obvious that there wasn't much of hike this week.  The original plan was to, maybe, go to Catherine Pass via Brighton - but when we arrived at Brighton, the rain showed no sign of abating.

The temperature was also a factor - being in the low 60's or high 50's and many of us were wearing shorts.  In reality, it probably wouldn't have mattered if we were wearing shorts or long pants, as one's legs would become thoroughly soaked in either case.  Note that if it were simply cold or rainy, we probably would have hiked anyway, but the combination of the two was sufficient discouragement.

We decided that a better idea was to go to Silver Fork.  Lodge.  Restaurant.  For dinner.  The entrees were varied somewhat:  Gordon had a grilled salmon pasta dish, Clint had the Cajun pasta while Randy had a Salmon Caesar salad.  Mike and Nancy ordered and split between them the Grilled Salmon and Cajun pasta dishes.  As mentioned above, they were delicious!  (Placing the orders for our meals explains the nature of the "Question of the day.")

Afterwards, we decided that we couldn't have felt good about ourselves without having taken at least a short hike, so we went back up to the Brighton bowl and circumnavigated Silver Lake - starting about 15 minutes after sunset.  FWIW, the total distance around the Silver Lake boardwalk/trail is about 3/4 mile or so at an altitude of about 8720 feet.  (Nancy stayed and guarded the vehicle, as they "officially" lock the gate at 9 pm. - although we got back at 8:56 after a brisk 20 minute walk.)
